New Collaborative Toolkit on Hormonal Implants Published
K4Health recently published a new toolkit on hormonal implants developed by the Long-Acting and Permanent Methods Community of Practice under leadership of EngenderHealth, Family Health International, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health/Center for Communication Programs, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Hormonal implants are gaining popularity among a broad range of women wanting to time, space, or limit future pregnancies. As the number of such products – including Implanon®, Jadelle®, and Sino-implant (II)® -- become available, so will the demand for thorough and detailed resources about them.
The toolkit provides comprehensive and evidence-based resources on hormonal implants for policy makers, health care providers, and program managers across the globe. The toolkit includes information on essential knowledge, policies and guidelines, training, logistics, program management, service delivery, communications, and country experiences. To browse the eight thematic sections of the toolkit, visit www.k4health.org/toolkits/implants.
In an effort to meet the current and future need for resources and information on implants, this toolkit will evolve and capture new evidence-based information and fill knowledge gaps. As with all our toolkits, we invite you to contribute by suggesting resources to include in the toolkit and by posting your comments and feedback on the discussion board.
We also recently published a new toolkit on the Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM) developed by the InterAgency LAM Working Group, which began in 2007 to reposition LAM as a viable family planning method for postpartum women. If you have any questions concerning either toolkit, please contact the team at toolkits@k4health.org.
