Each SIG (Special Interest Group) has its own set of shared resources that are collated here. Resources include downloadable publications (in .pdf or .ppt format) or KM related Wikis and knowledge bases associated with KMAfrica.com. In addition, SIGs include conference papers, discussion topics and forum topics relevant to the interest areas of each SIG. The Fireside Chat SIG http://www.kmafrica.com/og.fireside.chat allows you to engage in conversations with other registered KMAfrica.com members about anything you want in the KM area.

To be the knowledge engine driving appropriate development solutions for Africa.

The MISSION of KMAfrica

To enhance governance and service delivery through the use of knowledge as a fundamental resource in development and establish KM platforms to create access to existing networks and to facilitate the sharing and utilisation of knowledge.

KMAfrica Mandate and Strategic Goals

KMAfrica's strategic goals include

Enhance the implementation of knowledge management in Africa.
Leverage the use of knowledge in policy and service delivery.
Promote partnerships among the public sector, private sector, and civil society in the creation, synthesis and use of knowledge.
Build knowledge management networks that will enable the creation and utilisation of knowledge.
Build an institutional infrastructure that will facilitate the implementation of the knowledge management mandate across Africa.

The Mandate of KMAfrica

Mobilize stakeholder buy-in;
create partnerships for knowledge management;
establish KM platforms and regional chapters;
build an institutional framework for KMAfrica; and,
identify and implement KM projects and programmes at country and regional chapter level.

Publicity for the KMAfrica biennial Conferences including marketing and promotion of KMAfrica's biennial conferences
Archival of previous KMAfrica conferences includes digitising previous KMAfrica conference proceedings and presention via the KMAfrica.com wiki
The KMAfrica KnowledgeHub Community Advertising Platform helps members to advertise their knowledge-related businesses, products and services to Africa and the developing world http://www.kmafrica.com/advertising
Provide a space for conversations that matter supporting the vision KMAfrica.com, we provide an electronic platform to stimulate conversation and resource sharing around KM topics using the KnowledgeHub Special Interest Groups (SIGs) based on http://www.kmafrica.com/og
Stimulating the use of appropriate knowledge for youth empowerment designed and providing communications campaigns directed at African Governments, Schools and Universities - this is a project of the KM4Comms SIG based on http://www.kmafrica.com/og.communications
KMAfrica.com eUniversity will be offering a certificate in KM at Masters level via our eUniversity. The audience for the course are public servants in all spheres of government, NGOs and private organisations throughout Africa. The KMAfrica eUniversity is web-based and provides everything you would find in a real university. The intention is to offer cutting edge theory, online discussions and exercises that stimulate learners to implement ideas and best practice directly in their environments. We are looking for: tutors/mentors, assessors, content providers and lecturers who are as passionate about learning as we are and who are willing to lend some of their knowledge to this project - if you'd like to be involved, please email info@kmafrica.com.
