Africa Adapt Climate Change Symposium-Official Programme - 9th-11th March 2011

Africa Adapt

This is the official programme for the Africa Adapt Climate Symposium to be held in Addis Abbaba in Ethiopia 9th-11th March 2011

Over 150 researchers, civil society actors, donors, government officials and NGOs will be gathering in Addis Ababa on 9-11 March at the AfricaAdapt Climate Change Symposium. The five themes for the symposium are:

  • National and international policy: Linking policy and practice

  • Links between adaptation, mitigation and low carbon, or "climate compatible" development
  • New thinking on community-led responses: From local to global
  • The roles of media and intermediaries in translating, sharing, and advocating
  • Roles of local and indigenous knowledge in addressing climate change

Because the response to the call for papers was so great, AfricaAdapt is now hosting an online symposium, at the same time as the conference in Addis Ababa. Register for the free AfricaAdapt virtual Climate Change Symposium for complete access to this three-day, landmark event, including:

  • New research and experience on climate change and development across Africa.

  • Videos of the keynote speakers and panel discussions.
  • Interactive discussions with other online participants (donors, researchers, community activists, NGOs, government officials).
